The Education and Innovation Summit is planned for Oct. 26-27.
The event is part of LAGCOE's effort to become more than a biennial energy event and more of a continuing presence and influence in support of the industry, executive director Angela Cring said.
Summit events include:
The event will also offer a Career Development and Networking Expo, presented by The Daily Advertiser, to educate attendees about how to search for jobs, prepare resumes and interview.
Cring said the event will include a non-technical presentation on "The Life of a Well," a boxed lunch event where Smith Mason & Co. will explain the life cycle of a well. The session will help non-technical employees of the energy industry to better understand the phases of oil and gas exploration.
LAGCOE presents a three-day, biennial exposition at the Cajundome which, in recent years, has set record attendance of more than 17,000. LAGCOE's expositions stretch back for more than six decades. The next exposition is scheduled for Oct. 24-26, 2017.
But LAGCOE, as part of its mission, has added off-year events to bolster the industry, including job fairs and educational events.
Cring said the organization, which has a small, year-round staff, has a "yearround mentaility" — it is becoming a "constant presence and influence" — to serve the industry.
The October summit, she said, was planned and developed through the efforts of volunteers, vision groups and community partners.
