Lagcoe Continues 2025 FEP Scholarship Announcements, Surprises Second Recipient at Lafayette Christian Academy

LAFAYETTE, LA – Lagcoe is excited to continue unveiling recipients of the 2025 Future Energy Professionals (FEP) Scholarship by surprising senior Luke Gibson of Lafayette Christian Academy with an $8,000 award during his mathematics class on Monday, May 12.

The surprise presentation took place in front of his classmates and teacher, Mrs. Lyndsy Huval, who has been a strong supporter of the FEP program and is pictured with Luke at the award moment. Luke’s parents, along with school administrators and Lagcoe representatives, joined the celebration.

Luke earned this recognition after participating in Lagcoe’s Future Energy Professionals Tour, where he explored career pathways in the energy sector and demonstrated a strong commitment to academic excellence and future leadership in STEM. He plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this fall to pursue a STEM-related degree.

“Luke exemplifies the kind of bright, driven student we aim to support through the FEP program,” said Fumy Rita, Executive Director of Lagcoe. “Surprising him in his math class, surrounded by peers and an inspiring teacher like Mrs. Huval, made the moment especially meaningful.”

About the FEP Scholarship

The Future Energy Professionals Scholarship is awarded every other year to Louisiana high school juniors and seniors who participate in Manufacturing Week Tours at Lagcoe-approved energy companies or Lagcoe’s official FEP Tours. It is designed to support goal-oriented students planning to pursue a STEM-related degree at a Louisiana college or university.

To be eligible, students must have participated in an approved tour, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and intend to pursue a STEM discipline. The application requires two letters of recommendation from teachers or STEM professionals, a certified high school transcript, and a handwritten personal essay.

All applications are submitted through a secure online portal managed by the Community Foundation of Acadiana, where the FEP Scholarship Fund is housed. Recipients are selected through a rigorous multi-month review process conducted by a committee of educators and industry professionals from across the state.

More scholarship recipients will be announced in the coming weeks. To learn more about the FEP Scholarship and view this year’s awardees, visit www.lagcoe.com.
