Lagcoe Announces 2025 FEP Scholarship Winners, Surprises First Recipient at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy

LAFAYETTE, LA – Lagcoe is proud to announce the launch of its 2025 Future Energy Professionals (FEP) Scholarship award cycle, beginning with a surprise presentation to senior Christopher Dickerson at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy on Thursday, May 8.

Joined by his proud mother, Allison Dickerson, Principal Livesay, and other members of the administration, Christopher was awarded an $8,000 scholarship toward his college education. The heartfelt moment unfolded in front of his classmates and science teacher, Mr. Hansen, who has been instrumental in nurturing Christopher’s enthusiasm for science and engineering. Christopher earned this recognition after participating in Lagcoe’s Future Energy Professionals Tour, hosted by Acadian Contractors, where he explored real-world energy careers and demonstrated a clear commitment to STEM excellence. He plans to pursue a degree in a STEM-related field at a Louisiana university this fall.

“On behalf of Lagcoe, we’re thrilled to support Christopher in his journey,” said Fumy Rita, Executive Director of Lagcoe. “His dedication, curiosity, and potential represent exactly what the FEP program stands for—investing in students who will lead the future of energy.”

About the FEP Scholarship

The Future Energy Professionals Scholarship is awarded every other year to Louisiana high school juniors and seniors who participate in Manufacturing Week Tours at Lagcoe-approved energy companies or Lagcoe’s official FEP Tours. It is designed to support goal-oriented students planning to pursue a STEM-related degree at a Louisiana college or university.

To be eligible, students must have participated in an approved tour, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and intend to pursue a STEM discipline. The application requires two letters of recommendation from teachers or STEM professionals, a certified high school transcript, and a handwritten personal essay.

All applications are submitted through a secure online portal managed by the Community Foundation of Acadiana, where the FEP Scholarship Fund is housed. Scholarship recipients are selected through a rigorous multi-month review process conducted by a committee of educators and industry professionals representing institutions such as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Louisiana State University, McNeese State University, and leaders from the energy sector. Past recipients have pursued degrees in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, oil and gas production, and integrated product technologies at institutions across the state, including LSU, UL Lafayette, South Louisiana Community College, Baton Rouge Community College, and L.E. Fletcher Technical Community College.

More scholarship recipients will be announced in the coming weeks. To learn more about the FEP Scholarship and view this year’s awardees, visit www.lagcoe.com.
