Lagcoe Announces Joe Bernard as the New Lagcoe Looey

Lafayette, LA - [February 25, 2025] - Lagcoe is proud to announce the selection of Joe Bernard as the new Lagcoe Looey, an honorary title bestowed biennially to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the energy industry. Since its inception in 1955, the Lagcoe Looey award has celebrated leaders whose dedication, innovation, and community spirit have shaped the energy sector. Originally inspired by “Lafayette Looey” at the first Lagcoe exposition—and later evolving into the revered Lagcoe Looey—the tradition now stands as a testament to the resilient, hardworking spirit of the industry’s everyday heroes.

Joe Bernard’s career exemplifies the values that the Lagcoe Looey honors. With nearly 30 years of service at Pro-T—an achievement realized through the faith of industry visionary Ricky Parvino—Joe has been a pillar in the energy community. His notable contributions include:

  • Leadership & Service: Serving as Co-Chairman of the LAGCOE Registration Committee for 16 years, Joe has played a key role in steering industry initiatives.
  • Community Engagement: As the founder of The Lunch Bunch 35 years ago, he united service companies to support AADE Golf Tournaments and other charitable events across New Orleans, Lafayette, and Houston.
  • Industry Impact: Joe’s longstanding involvement with AADE, including spearheading the Fin Feather Fur Food Festival for both the New Orleans and Lafayette Chapters, has raised thousands of dollars for scholarships and community programs.
  • Broader Contributions: Beyond AADE, Joe’s active participation in events like the API-Delta Sporting Clays Tournament and the Southeast Texas Oilman’s Fishing Tournament underscores his deep commitment to charitable causes.
  • Service & Sacrifice: His honorable service in the National Guard (1974–1976) further highlights his dedication to serving his country and community.

Joe’s remarkable achievements are matched only by his personal dedication. Supported throughout his career by his wife, Laura—whose steadfast encouragement over 45 years has been invaluable—Joe continues to inspire colleagues, friends, and industry partners alike. His contributions, both professional and personal, embody the spirit and enduring legacy of the Lagcoe Looey tradition.

“Our organization is absolutely delighted to welcome Joe Bernard as the new Lagcoe Looey. I have had the pleasure of working with Joe for several years, and his warmth, dedication, and visionary leadership truly capture the essence of what this honor represents,” said Fumy Rita, Executive Director of Lagcoe. “Joe is the embodiment of community spirit and industry excellence, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have my Board recognize his contributions at Roux Fest 2025.”

The official presentation of the Lagcoe Looey award will take place at Roux Fest 2025 on February 27 at the Blackham Coliseum. Lagcoe invites industry colleagues, media, and community members to join in celebrating Joe Bernard’s extraordinary contributions and to honor the lasting legacy of the Lagcoe Looey tradition.
