FEP Tour at Acadian Contractors Inspires Future Leaders

Jan 24, 2025 /

On January 20, 2025, as preparations for Snowstorm Enzo were underway, Acadian Contractors opened its doors to 13 future leaders. The students, all juniors and seniors from Youngsville High School, Lafayette High School, David Thibodeaux STEM Academy, and Lafayette Christian Academy, are planning to pursue degrees in fields ranging from naval engineering to electrical engineering, biology, dermatology, and chemical engineering.

The Future Energy Professionals (FEP) Tour gave these students the opportunity to explore the possibilities within the energy sector. They engaged with several key leaders from Acadian Contractors, including, Blake Broussard, President; Barrett Broussard, Executive Vice President; Aaron Loupe, Director of Human Resources & Training; Stephen Barber, Director of HSE; and Ethan Hebert, Director of Quality.

Throughout the tour, the students learned about Acadian Contractors’ current projects and discussed the pathways to building successful careers in the energy industry. Key topics included what it takes to succeed in this dynamic field, career opportunities, and industry requirements. The students also participated in a safety session and toured Acadian Contractors' impressive facility, gaining first-hand insight into daily operations.

This FEP Tour, along with the Manufacturing Tours hosted by 1Acadiana and LEDA in August, serves as a gateway for students to qualify for the FEP Scholarship. This scholarship, designed for juniors and seniors planning to attend college or university in Louisiana and major in a STEM-centric degree, offers valuable financial support for students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The students left the tour excited and inspired, with many expressing an interest in internships and a deeper understanding of the energy field. Some even described the experience as “a cool thing,” highlighting the positive impact of the event on their future aspirations.
