LAFAYETTE, LA (December 13, 2019) –On Monday, December 9, 2019, Angela Cring stepped down as Executive Director of LAGCOE, a position she held for nearly a decade. Cring’s departure comes months after LAGCOE’s historic move from Lafayette to New Orleans, LA. Under Cring’s leadership, the biennial event successfully endured the year of transition and laid a foundation for another successful event in 2021.

Since its founding in Lafayette more than 64 years ago, this signature biennial event has brought together the best and brightest oil and gas professionals, businesses, and industry leaders to share and showcase new technologies and advancements in the energy sector. Cring’s career with LAGCOE is marked with a multitude of successful, innovative programs that set the organization apart from other oil and gas industry expositions and conferences. She leaves behind programs like an annual energy pitch challenge, the young professionals’ programs, and the organization’s STEM scholarship fund.

Cring said of her decision, “I am proud to have been of service to the oil and gas industry and a part of LAGCOE’s rich history. I have learned a tremendous amount in my time at LAGCOE that I will take with me as I look forward to new career and personal challenges ahead.”

Greg Stutes, LAGCOE’s Chairman of the Board, expressed enthusiasm about the organization’s success moving forward. “We will miss Angela’s unparalleled personal and professional commitment to LAGCOE for the past 14 years. In her 8 years as Executive Director, she has spearheaded many innovative programs and events which have kept LAGCOE growing and evolving in good times and in bad. LAGCOE is fortunate to have had Angela as a leader, but of course we fully support her decision to start a new chapter in her life and wish her only the very best. We will move forward with the knowledge that LAGCOE’s future is bright.”

Corinne Sprague, who has served as LAGCOE’s Event and Volunteer Services Coordinator since 2018, will take on the role of Interim Executive Director after Cring’s departure in January of 2020. She will remain in the role until the LAGCOE Board of Directors reaches a decision about the position’s future in early 2020. “While Angela’s departure will certainly leave a void at LAGCOE, her leadership has provided a roadmap for our success and I appreciate the Board of Directors for entrusting me to lead in the interim,” affirmed Sprague.
