Christian, a Welding Major at SLCC’s T.H. Harris Extension Campus in Opelousas, embodies the dedication and promise that this scholarship seeks to support.
The SLCC Lagcoe Endowed Scholarship is a scholarship offered by South Louisiana Community College in partnership with Lagcoe. This scholarship is designed to support students pursuing education and careers in the energy industry, particularly in fields related to oil and gas exploration, production, and services.
Christian’s commitment to his education and his community is evident in his response to the question, “What do you expect to gain from earning a college degree?" He stated, “I believe that earning this college degree will enable me to change not only my life, but my family’s life as well. I hope that it puts me in a position to where I can bless others outside of my family, as well as just being an example that if you work hard, you can achieve your goals.”
The SLCC Foundation supports South Louisiana Community College and its students financially through scholarships, program improvements, technological advancements, staff development and capital expansion.
