LAFAYETTE, LA – (March 2, 2023) South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) announced the selection of Karson Stansbury as the recipient of the prestigious Lagcoe Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes outstanding academic achievements and a commitment to pursue a degree in the energy industry.

Karson Stansbury, a dedicated and accomplished student, has demonstrated exceptional dedication to his studies and a passion for the energy sector. His exemplary academic record and involvement in extracurricular activities set him apart as an exceptional candidate for the Lagcoe Endowed Scholarship.

The Lagcoe Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 when Lagcoe made an irrevocable gift to SLCC Foundation in the amount of 60K. The amount qualified to be matched by the Louisiana Board of Regents and $40k were added to it. In 2016, Lagcoe made an additional $15k irrevocable gift, which was also matched by the Louisiana Board of Regents. Since its inception, scholarships have been awarded to numerous students. This scholarship not only provides financial assistance but also recognizes the importance of fostering the next generation of leaders in the energy sector.

Karson Stansbury's commitment to academic excellence and his enthusiasm for the energy industry make him a deserving recipient of this prestigious scholarship. He has consistently demonstrated his dedication to learning, community involvement, and leadership skills, which align perfectly with the values of the Lagcoe.

" I see myself using my STEM degree (Associate of Science degree in Industrial Technology) in the future by becoming an industrial technician, who operates and repairs machinery,” said Stansbury, “My father has an Industrial Technology degree. He is the one who influenced me to consider industrial technology as a career because we both share in the appreciation of machinery operations and mechanical instrumentation that this field has to offer.”

SLCC and Lagcoe are confident that Karson Stansbury will make significant contributions to the energy industry and excel in his educational journey. This scholarship will enable him to further his studies, gain valuable experience, and make a positive impact in his community.
